German power metal icons Edguy have thrilled fans worldwide with the announcement of their latest studio album, Cosmic Wanderer, set for release in Spring 2025. The news marks the band’s triumphant return after a five-year hiatus since their last album, Monuments of Majesty, which garnered critical acclaim for its blend of powerful melodies and electrifying performances.
The announcement was made via the band’s official social media channels, accompanied by a captivating teaser video featuring otherworldly visuals and snippets of what appears to be the album’s title track. Tobias Sammet, the band’s charismatic frontman and mastermind, described Cosmic Wanderer as “a journey through the boundless realms of imagination, fusing the essence of our roots with the spirit of exploration.”
Sammet also hinted at the album’s thematic depth, stating, “This record dives into themes of discovery, existentialism, and the mystery of the cosmos, all wrapped in the grandiose Edguy sound that fans love.” The album reportedly features 11 tracks, blending symphonic elements, fast-paced anthems, and introspective ballads.
Adding to the excitement, Edguy confirmed that Cosmic Wanderer will feature collaborations with renowned musicians, though they remain tight-lipped about the identities of their special guests. The production is said to be helmed by Sascha Paeth, a long-time collaborator known for his work with Avantasia and other metal acts.
In addition to the album release, Edguy announced plans for a global tour kicking off in late summer. Fans can expect a mix of new material and beloved classics during the shows, promising a truly unforgettable live experience.
Pre-orders for Cosmic Wanderer will begin in February 2025, with limited-edition box sets, vinyls, and exclusive merchandise already generating buzz. As the power metal community eagerly awaits more details, one thing is certain—Edguy is set to reclaim their throne as one of the genre’s most dynamic and innovative bands.
