The £60 million man is ‘open to the move’ to Newcastle, according to a journalist, as negotiations continue until

Newcastle United is currently at the forefront of the competition to acquire Marc Guehi, who is valued at £60 million.

Recent reports indicate that Newcastle has begun negotiations with Crystal Palace regarding their standout England defender, Marc Guehi.

The 24-year-old has been a target for Newcastle throughout the summer, but discussions about his transfer had only previously amounted to a vague recognition of his interest until Friday.

It has now emerged that serious talks between Newcastle and Crystal Palace are underway, and it appears Guehi might be enthusiastic about the move.

Alex Crook believes there could be a bidding war for Guehi. Although the situation remains unchanged, journalists are now sharing their insights about the deal.

Crook recently mentioned on TalkSPORT that he thinks Guehi is receptive to a move to Newcastle. However, he also speculated that other clubs might now join the race.

“Palace were always prepared for interest in Guehi, even before his strong performance with England in Germany,” Crook said. “Newcastle is currently the most serious contender, having initiated talks. It will require a substantial amount, likely over £60 million. From what I’ve heard, Guehi is interested in the move to St James’ Park.

“But now that this news is public, I wonder if other major clubs will enter the fray, leading to a potential bidding war involving Palace.”

There appears to be strong confidence that Newcastle will secure this transfer. Although several other clubs had shown interest in Guehi, most have since signed players for that position.

Liverpool is likely to be Newcastle’s main competition, but they seem focused on offloading Joe Gomez at the moment. It wouldn’t be practical for them to invest heavily in another center-back while still trying to move Gomez out.

There’s an unusual sense of certainty surrounding the Marc Guehi transfer that hasn’t been present throughout the summer.
