Ryan Blaney has once again proven why he’s one of NASCAR’s top drivers. The Team Penske driver clinched a critical victory at Martinsville Speedway, winning the Xfinity 500 to advance to the Championship 4 at Phoenix Raceway. Blaney executed a decisive pass on Chase Elliott with just 15 laps to go, securing his chance to fight for a second NASCAR Cup Series title.
Blaney, the defending Cup Series champion, has been in top form throughout the 2024 season, securing three wins along with 12 top-five finishes and 18 top-10s. His season started strong with a historic victory at the Iowa Corn 350 in June, making him the first driver to win across all three national NASCAR series at Iowa Speedway.
Reflecting on his Iowa win, Blaney shared that it was a deeply personal moment for him and his family. Having spent much of his childhood visiting Iowa, the win felt like a homecoming. He dedicated the victory to his mother and even joked that the team should celebrate with corn liquor next time.
Now, Blaney heads into the NASCAR Cup Series Championship race at Phoenix Raceway, where he will battle Joey Logano, William Byron, and Tyler Reddick for the 2024 title. With momentum on his side and a strong history of clutch performances, Blaney remains a strong contender to defend his championship.
