U2 Unveils 20th Anniversary Edition of ‘How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb’ with Unreleased Tracks Read More…

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of their acclaimed album “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb,” U2 has announced a special remastered edition set for release on November 22, 2024. This commemorative package not only revisits the original tracks but also introduces a companion album titled “How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb,” featuring previously unreleased songs from the original recording sessions.

The remastered edition offers fans a comprehensive experience, including the bonus track “Fast Cars,” which was initially available only in select regions. The companion album delves into the band’s archives, unearthing tracks that provide fresh insights into U2’s creative process during that era. Notable songs such as “Luckiest Man in the World,” previously leaked under the working title “Mercy,” along with “Country Mile,” “Picture of You (X+W),” and “Happiness,” are among the highlights of this collection.

Guitarist The Edge reflected on the project, emphasizing the band’s journey of personal and artistic reflection. He noted that the new tracks draw inspiration from their early musical influences and Bono’s introspection following his father’s passing in 2001.

For vinyl enthusiasts, a special black-and-red marble vinyl pressing of “How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb” will be available exclusively for Record Store Day on November 29, 2024. Deluxe box-set editions of the reissue are also on offer, featuring the companion album, an audio recording of “Vertigo 2005: Live from Chicago,” a collection of B-sides and remixes, and a photography book by Anton Corbijn.

This anniversary release not only commemorates a pivotal album in U2’s discography but also provides fans with a deeper understanding of the band’s evolution during a significant period in their career.
