Legendary Canadian metal band Voivod has officially announced the upcoming release of a brand-new studio album and an expansive world tour set to take place in 2025. Known for their pioneering blend of progressive thrash metal and science fiction storytelling, Voivod is preparing to embark on one of the most ambitious phases of their decades-long career.
The new album, still untitled, is expected to drop in early 2025. According to the band, this will be a conceptual work that continues to explore dystopian themes, futuristic warfare, and philosophical reflections — elements that have become synonymous with their unique sound. While the tracklist and production details remain under wraps, fans can expect complex time signatures, rich textures, and the band’s signature sci-fi aesthetic.
Voivod’s 2025 world tour will span across multiple continents, including North and South America, Europe, and select parts of Asia. Notably, the band will return to Chile, a country with a loyal fanbase, and they will also perform alongside the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec in Canada — a rare fusion of metal and classical music that promises to be one of the highlights of the tour.
In addition to the album and tour, Voivod is launching an exciting new venture: their very first official video game, titled Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior. Designed in collaboration with indie developers, the game will be set in a retro-futuristic universe filled with 16-bit visuals and a chip-tune soundtrack inspired by the band’s discography. Players will step into the shoes of the Voivod character and explore a dystopian landscape through fast-paced, side-scrolling action.
Adding even more depth to their 2025 plans, Voivod will also be the subject of a feature documentary titled Voivod: We Are Connected and a detailed biography written by music journalist Jeff Wagner. Both projects will offer deep insights into the band’s evolution, musical legacy, and impact on the global metal scene.
