Kentucky Basketball enters the far too early top 25 on ESPN.

ESPN recently released their Way-Too-Early Top 25 Rankings, placing Kentucky at No. 23. Interestingly, this ranks them ninth among the nine SEC teams listed, highlighting the competitiveness expected in the conference next season.

Mark Pope, entering his first season as head coach for the Wildcats, aims to bring his expertise in 3-point shooting from his time at BYU to Lexington. Kentucky’s roster features seven notable transfers, including Jaxson Robinson from BYU, Koby Brea from Dayton, Otega Oweh from Oklahoma, Kerr Kriisa from West Virginia, Andrew Carr from Wake Forest, Lamont Butler from San Diego State, and Amari Williams from Drexel. These additions underscore the team’s strategy to enhance its lineup with experienced talent from various programs.

In ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25 Rankings, Texas, one of the two newcomers to the SEC this season, is positioned just ahead of Kentucky at No. 22. The SEC is well-represented in these rankings with Florida at No. 21, Ole Miss at No. 20, Arkansas at No. 14, Tennessee at No. 13, Texas A&M at No. 12, Auburn at No. 11, and Alabama at an impressive No. 2 spot.

Kansas leads the rankings, bolstered significantly by the return of Hunter Dickinson for the upcoming season.

Kentucky’s season opener is scheduled against Duke on Tuesday, November 12th, taking place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. This high-profile matchup promises an exciting start to the Wildcats’ season under new head coach Mark Pope.
