HUDDERSFIELD TOWN have scheduled friendly matches against teams from Bundesliga 2, Serie A, and the Cypriot First Division during their upcoming tour of Austria. The tour begins with a match against Aris Limassol at St Ulrich on Monday, July 22 (kick-off at 6pm).
Aris participated in both the Champions League and Europa League during the 2023-24 season, having secured their first-ever top-flight title in Cyprus the season before.
Michael Duff’s team will next encounter Hertha Berlin, a German side, in Kossen on Thursday, July 25th. The match is scheduled to begin at 1pm.
Afterward, Huddersfield will face Italian team US Lecce on Sunday, July 28th (2:30pm), in Jenbach. Lecce, who placed 14th in Serie A last season, are in their second consecutive season back in Italy’s top flight.
Town head coach Duff remarked, “It’s exciting to have these matches confirmed. The tour presents a great opportunity for us to work closely together just before the season starts, ensuring everyone is aligned and in peak collective condition and mindset.”
“We’re facing three really tough opponents, which is exactly what we wanted to challenge ourselves with. Each team comes from a different league with their own unique style of play, so we’ll need to find ways to impose our game against each of them. It’s a significant test for us, especially with a demanding season ahead where we’ll face similar challenges.
“Getting valuable match minutes under our belts, working closely together, and increasing our intensity before the first match against Peterborough United – this period in Austria could be crucial for us. We’re committed to putting in the effort to ensure it’s as productive as possible.”
