“It’s frustrating because being versatile shouldn’t count against me,” Adebayo expressed to Yahoo Sports. “In recent years, DPOY has gone to guards, centers, and forwards, while I’ve been consistent in the top five. The criteria seem to shift for me.”
Adebayo’s frustration is evident, especially seeing players like Marcus Smart and Rudy Gobert receive the award based on traditional box score metrics.
