Newsnow: Burnley is considering a move for the AFC Bournemouth player.

Burnley may consider signing a Premier League goalkeeper if James Trafford departs in this transfer window, despite recently acquiring Vaclav Hladky from Ipswich Town. The club, relegated from the Premier League along with Sheffield United and Luton Town, is looking to bolster its squad with new signings.

Mark Travers, aged 25, is currently contracted to Bournemouth until 2027, which means the club is not under immediate pressure to sell him this summer or in the near future. Despite his long-term deal, Travers is not the first-choice goalkeeper at Bournemouth and may be looking for regular first-team opportunities elsewhere.

According to the latest update from journalist Nixon on his Patreon, Travers has emerged as a potential option for Burnley in goal. Burnley’s new manager, Scott Parker, is familiar with Travers from their time together at Bournemouth, which could influence the Clarets’ interest in signing him.

Burnley is considering Mark Travers from Bournemouth as a potential addition to strengthen their goalkeeping squad, aiming to enhance competition and depth in that position.

Travers, a Republic of Ireland international with four caps to his name, joined Bournemouth in 2016. He previously honed his skills in various youth academies, including Confey, Lucan United, Cherry Orchard, and Shamrock Rovers during his teenage years.

He gained early experience through loan spells away from Bournemouth at Weymouth and Swindon Town.

Travers then had a spell with Stoke City during the first half of last season before returning to Bournemouth.

In total, he has made 77 appearances for the Cherries across all competitions, including seven in the last campaign. However, he has experienced sporadic opportunities in the team over recent years.

A move to Burnley could offer Travers a change of scenery and a chance to secure more playing time.

Whether Travers moves to Turf Moor hinges on developments surrounding James Trafford in the upcoming weeks.

Burnley’s first match of the 2024/25 season is an away fixture against Luton Town on August 12th.
