Gunn’s Reaction: We Need Consistency

Goalkeeper Angus Gunn believes Norwich City needs to achieve more consistency as they approach the start of the Sky Bet Championship season.

Norwich concluded their pre-season with a 3-1 defeat to Bundesliga side St. Pauli at Carrow Road.

“It’s disappointing because we wanted to start the season with a win,” Gunn said. “It’s been a challenging pre-season; I’ve only been here a few weeks, but I know the team has been working hard before my arrival. The past few weeks have been very intense.”

He added, “The focus has been on getting match fitness. We’re obviously upset in the dressing room about not securing a win today. We had some good moments, particularly in the first 15 minutes, but their goal set us back, and we didn’t recover well. We were unhappy with how we ended the first half.”

Gunn noted that while there were positive aspects in their pre-season games, the team has struggled to fully capitalize on them.

The Scotland international stressed the need for a complete 90-minute performance before their trip to Oxford next week.

“There was a lack of consistency throughout the match. We had some promising moments and created chances, but we didn’t take enough of them. We need to find that consistency for the full 90 minutes and avoid conceding sloppy goals,” he explained.

“That’s been holding us back. Our reaction in the second half was positive, and we need to bring that performance into the season opener next week.”
