The Chicago Bears have not secured a Super Bowl title since 1985, when they were guided to victory by the iconic head coach Mike Ditka, a formidable defense, standout running back Walter Payton, and an average quarterback, Jim McMahon.
It’s clear that Payton and the defense were crucial in overcoming obstacles and leading the team to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy, marking the Bears’ only Super Bowl victory to date.
Aside from their Super Bowl appearance with Rex Grossman in 2007, the Chicago Bears have experienced limited success, particularly in acquiring and developing skilled quarterbacks, which has been a significant weakness for the franchise.
Fortunately for Chicago, the team might be on the verge of a turnaround. They drafted USC star Caleb Williams with the first overall pick and added wide receiver Rome Odunze, potentially paving the way for a promising offensive future.
Nick Wright of FOX Sports is so impressed with the Bears’ moves this offseason that he believes Chicago could win the NFC in the upcoming 2024 NFL season, as stated on First Things First.
Wright remarked, “Eventually, a rookie quarterback will make it to the Super Bowl. If it’s going to happen, it would look a lot like this.”
Wright is known for his bold and sometimes controversial predictions, and this one is no exception. He suggests that a rookie quarterback and a team with a history of more failures than successes could make it all the way, which is quite a daring claim.
Although the Bears are expected to be a stronger team overall in 2024, making it to the Super Bowl still seems like a considerable stretch.
