It has been confirmed by Huddersfield Town that they have exercised their option to keep Brodie Spencer on through the summer of 2026. The 20-year-old made a name for himself in the Town first team during the second half of the previous campaign after being called up from a Motherwell loan.
After spending just six games with the first team prior, the defender made 21 appearances for the Terriers after returning from the Scottish Premiership team in January.
After initially enrolling in Town’s academy in 2020 from Cliftonville, a Northern Irish team, Spencer made his Terriers debut in August 2022 during an EFL Cup matchup with Preston North End.
The defender made his debut for his nation in the Nations League in the summer of 2022, and he has since earned nine caps for Northern Ireland.
Spencer played in every preseason game for Town save one, and he completed ninety minutes of action in their penultimate friendly against Sheffield United last week. The defender’s contract was set to expire next summer, but the Terriers have decided to extend it by a further 12 months.
