Amy Earnhardt Shares Insights on Dale Jr.’s House Design Proposal

Amy Earnhardt recently opened up about a lighthearted offer from her husband, Dale Earnhardt Jr., to let her design their future home. Reflecting on this proposal, she admitted that she approached it with a healthy dose of skepticism, making it clear that she didn’t take it too seriously at the time.

The Earnhardts tied the knot on December 31, 2016, after five years of dating, with their wedding taking place at Richard Childress Vineyards in Lexington, North Carolina. Amy has always been a supportive presence during Dale’s racing career, frequently seen at tracks cheering him on. With a degree in interior design from the University of Kentucky, she brings her professional expertise to their discussions about home design.

In a 2018 interview with Graham Bensinger, Amy recounted the amusing moment when Dale proposed the idea of her designing their house. She joked, “He did tell me that. I just took that with a grain of salt.” When asked about Dale’s seriousness regarding the offer, she highlighted the early days of their relationship, saying, “Who knows, right? When you first meet someone, you’re in kind of a twitterpated phase… I needed to make sure he’d like the house.” This playful exchange illustrates the fun and lighthearted nature of their relationship.

Their journey began in 2009 when Dale Jr. hired Wakefield Beasley and Associates, an architectural firm in Atlanta, to design his home. Amy, who was working with the firm at the time, was involved in the project, which ultimately led to their meeting and the beginning of their love story.

During the same interview, Amy shared the story of their engagement, which occurred on a trip to Europe. They visited a church that holds deep significance for Dale’s family, and it was there that he proposed. “I turned around, and he was on his knee,” she recalled, highlighting a moment rich in personal significance. The couple now enjoys life as parents to two daughters, Isla Rose and Nicole Lorraine, adding joy and depth to their family life.
