Bruce Springsteen Declares He’ll Tour Until His Last Breath

At 75 years old, Bruce Springsteen, the celebrated Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, has dedicated a significant portion of his life to touring. Reflecting on this enduring passion, Springsteen stated during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show on October 18, “You’ve never seen a hearse with luggage on top, so that will be it for me. I am going to keep going until it’s over.” This bold declaration underscores his commitment to live performance, a defining aspect of his storied career.

In addition to discussing his touring philosophy, Springsteen promoted his new documentary, Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. With millions of albums sold, a wealth of hit singles, 20 Grammy Awards, and an Oscar to his name, he has consistently delighted fans for over five decades. However, even after all this time, he admits to experiencing a certain degree of stage fright. “I get anticipatory anxiety,” he explained. “It’s not quite the same thing as nervousness. It’s a natural feeling to have before you go out to challenge yourself. If it wasn’t there, I think there would be something wrong with you.”

The conversation also turned to Deliver Me from Nowhere, an upcoming biopic where actor Jeremy Allen White portrays Springsteen. This film will depict the rocker’s journey following the release of his acclaimed 1980 album, The River, as he creates his raw and introspective follow-up, Nebraska. Springsteen praised the film’s “lovely cast” and expressed his involvement in the project, demonstrating his hands-on approach to this new chapter of storytelling.

Jeremy Allen White, who is stepping into Springsteen’s shoes, noted the challenges of accurately capturing such an iconic figure. “You can’t do an imitation; you have to do a personal interpretation,” he stated. Despite the pressure, he feels well-prepared, thanks to extensive research and the wealth of footage available. Springsteen’s encouragement and support throughout the process have made a significant impact on White, who described Springsteen as “the greatest guy.”

As fans eagerly anticipate the premiere of Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on Hulu and Disney+ on October 25, it’s evident that Springsteen’s legacy is set to continue inspiring new generations. With his steadfast dedication to performing, he remains a vital force in the music world, committed to sharing his stories and music for years to come.
