Derby County are aiming to outpace Birmingham City in securing the signing of Brest winger Karamoko Dembele as manager Paul Warne seeks to bolster his attacking lineup for the upcoming Championship season.
According to Alan Nixon of The Sun, Derby are keen to strike a deal with the French club for the 21-year-old winger, who spent last season on loan at Blackpool.
According to a report from The Sun, “He enjoys playing in the Championship, but a League One team like Brum could give him the opportunity to team up with his brother Siriki, who is 27.”
Dembele began his career at Celtic but struggled to make a significant impact, with just ten appearances for the Scottish Premier team. He then moved to French club Brest on a free transfer in July 2022, where he signed a four-year contract.
Despite this, he only featured in 17 matches during his first season in France. He was loaned to League One’s Blackpool for the following season, where he found his form, scoring nine goals in 47 games for the Tangerines.
Derby aims to finalize their transfers in the last four weeks, with acquiring a striker being a top priority. They are considering Premier League loan options as part of their strategy.
