Recently, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors was asked if there’s any NBA player he hasn’t played with yet but would like to team up with. The 34-year-old forward expressed his interest in teaming up with Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.
Green may be running out of time to achieve his goal of teaming up with LeBron James, considering James is the NBA’s oldest player and will turn 40 in December. Meanwhile, Green, a former standout at Michigan State University, is also advancing in age, set to turn 35 next March with 12 years of NBA experience.
James and Green have a history of facing each other in the playoffs, particularly during a notable stretch from 2015 to 2018 when James’ Cleveland Cavaliers and Green’s Warriors clashed in the NBA Finals for four consecutive years.
The Warriors largely dominated their meetings with the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, winning three out of four series. However, Cleveland delivered a historic upset in the 2016 NBA Finals, spoiling Golden State’s record-breaking 73-9 regular season.
Despite the Warriors initially holding a commanding 3-1 series lead, the Cavaliers staged a remarkable comeback by winning Games 5, 6, and 7 to secure the championship. In the decisive Game 7, LeBron James led Cleveland with a memorable performance, scoring 27 points on 9-of-24 shooting while contributing 11 rebounds, 11 assists, two steals, and three blocks in a tight four-point victory.
In Game 7 of the championship series, Draymond Green put forth a remarkable effort to help the Warriors avoid squandering their 3-1 series lead. He scored 32 points, hitting six 3-pointers, and added 15 rebounds, nine assists, and two steals. Despite Green’s outstanding performance, it wasn’t sufficient to secure the victory for the Warriors in the end.
