Exclusive: In Banska Bystrica, the Czechs won three gold medals in a dual assault for glory.

Nina Radova delivered a masterful performance in the women’s 400m hurdles, taking charge early from lane five. By the home stretch, Croatia’s Eva Barbarić emerged as her primary rival for the gold medal. However, Radova surged ahead over the penultimate hurdle, finishing with a championship best time of 58.00. Barbarić claimed bronze with a personal best of 58.85, while France’s Lalie Pouzancre-Hoyer took silver in a personal best of 59.07.

Following Nina’s victory, attention swiftly turned to her brother Michal Rada in the men’s event. Competing from lane six, he quickly closed the gap on early leaders Italy’s Tommaso Ardizzone and Serbia’s Nebojša Ilić. Rada dominated the race, establishing a commanding lead by the home stretch and clocking an impressive European U18 best of 49.42. His compatriot Marek Váňa secured silver with a personal best of 51.12, and Ardizzone secured bronze with a national U18 best of 51.38.

The siblings expressed their joy at their dual victories, with Nina stating, “I am extremely happy that my brother and I both won gold medals. It’s a doubled joy for us.” Michal added, “After seeing my sister win, I was more relaxed and focused on my own race. We train together and support each other, so this is a special moment for us.”

In the women’s 800m, Czechia’s Adéla Holubová clinched gold in a championship best time of 2:04.23, overcoming early leader Shaikiri King of Great Britain, who finished just behind for silver. The men’s 800m saw a strategic race unfold, with Great Britain’s Matthew McKenna ultimately securing gold in 1:52.91 after a determined effort in the final stretch.

The championships concluded with dramatic medley relays, where Italy emerged as the dominant force, securing multiple gold medals and topping the medal table. The competition showcased outstanding performances and personal bests, marking a memorable event for the future stars of European athletics.
