Exclusive: Derby County is eager to sign a forward from Luton Town.

Derby County are interested in Luton Town striker Cauley Woodrow as Paul Warne seeks to bolster his attacking options in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

According to journalist Alan Nixon via Patreon, Woodrow is a target for Derby, but Luton will need to secure a replacement before any deal can be finalized between the two Championship clubs.

Following a 4-2 defeat to Blackburn Rovers on the opening day, Derby are searching for a new forward. Manager Paul Warne had previously called for another striker after a pre-season loss to Barnsley.

Woodrow scored only once in the Premier League during the 2023/24 season but has considerable experience in the Championship, with 46 goals in 213 appearances in his career.

Despite having signed Jerry Yates and Kayden Jackson this summer, Derby County are still seeking to strengthen their attacking options. Their current strikers managed just 34 goals between them in the 2023/24 season, indicating a need for additional firepower.

**Derby County’s Current Striker Stats 2023/24 (As Per TransferMarkt)**

– **Conor Washington (Derby County)**: 19 apps, 3 goals, 2 assists
– **Dajaune Brown (Gateshead)**: 18 apps, 6 goals, 0 assists
– **James Collins (Derby County)**: 38 apps, 14 goals, 2 assists
– **Jerry Yates (Swansea City)**: 43 apps, 8 goals, 1 assist
– **Kayden Jackson (Ipswich Town)**: 29 apps, 3 goals, 4 assists

James Collins was Derby’s top scorer last season with 14 League One goals, but his Championship performance has been less impressive. This has led manager Paul Warne to explore other options, such as Cauley Woodrow, to boost the team’s attacking capabilities.

Young striker Dajaune Brown is seeking a loan to a League One or League Two club after his impressive stint at Gateshead in the National League last season. Meanwhile, Conor Washington has been sidelined during pre-season, further highlighting Derby’s need for additional attacking options.

Jerry Yates is suspended for the first three games of the 2024/25 season, having already missed the defeat to Blackburn. He will return for Derby’s match against Watford on August 24.

Given the urgent need for another forward, it’s understandable that manager Paul Warne is targeting an experienced player like Cauley Woodrow.
