Exclusive: Huddersfield Town begins negotiations to buy Joe Hodge of Wolves

Huddersfield Town are currently in discussions with Wolves regarding a loan agreement for midfielder Joe Hodge, as per sources informed Football Insider. The 21-year-old has returned to his parent club for pre-season activities following a loan spell at QPR during the latter half of last season.

After scoring once in eight appearances during his time at Loftus Road, Huddersfield Town are eager to secure his services in West Yorkshire.

Given Wolves’ current financial situation, every expenditure is carefully considered, making a loan deal for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international a prudent option.

Hodge’s departure would also provide financial flexibility for Wolves as they pursue the acquisition of Che Adams on a free transfer.

It’s probable that Joe Hodge will depart Wolves on a loan deal. Hodge, a versatile midfielder, has showcased his ability across various positions from defensive midfield to the creative number ten role, prominently featuring in that role during his stint at QPR.

After beginning his career at Manchester City, Hodge ended up at Wolverhampton following his departure from his childhood club.

Since then, he received his first international call-up and was included in the squad for the Republic of Ireland’s 1-0 friendly defeat against Switzerland in March.

Although highly regarded at Wolves, the club is reportedly willing to loan him out to aid in his development.
