Exclusive: Man City enters the race for Eberechi Eze following the shocking Kevin De Bruyne move

Manchester City are contemplating making a move for Crystal Palace’s playmaker Eberechi Eze, whose valuation stands at £68 million. Pep Guardiola’s side, renowned for their consistent title successes, is deliberating their options amid interest from Saudi club Al-Ittihad, who have presented a lucrative offer to 33-year-old Kevin de Bruyne.

Eze, aged 26, has caught the eye of Tottenham Hotspur, who are seeking additional quality in midfield. However, if City pursue their interest, Tottenham would be unable to prevent Eze from being swayed by the allure of the Etihad Stadium. City have long admired Eze, recognizing him as one of the most promising talents in the Premier League outside the top four. He remains under contract with Palace for three more years and has a release clause set at £60 million plus additional fees.

Palace is firm on their stance not to sell Eze for less, especially after losing another rising star, Michael Olise, to Bayern Munich. City’s admiration for Eze extends to his temperament and versatility, as he can effectively operate in multiple positions on the field.

In the previous season, despite being sidelined by injury at times, he showcased outstanding performance for Palace. He contributed 11 goals and provided four assists, playing a pivotal role in Oliver Glasner’s team securing a tenth-place finish in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Kevin de Bruyne is anticipated to finalize a move to Al-Ittihad. The Pro League club, now under the management of Laurent Blanc, boasts a roster featuring prominent names such as Fabinho and Karim Benzema. With 382 appearances, 102 goals, 170 assists, and 15 trophies for City under his belt, De Bruyne has acknowledged the appeal of a lucrative opportunity in Saudi Arabia as his career enters its later stages.

Reflecting on his situation, he recently shared with Het Laatste Nieuws, “I still have one year left on my contract, so I have to consider the possibilities. My eldest child is now eight years old and has only known life in England. He often asks me how long I will continue playing for City. When the time comes, we will need to handle it in the best way possible.”
