EXCLUSIVE: The player is weighing his options as Southampton and Brentford express interest in the loan chance.

Rostov winger Pontus Almqvist is available for a loan move this summer, and both Brentford and Southampton are reportedly interested, according to Aftonbladet.

The newspaper notes that the Premier League clubs are among several teams considering a move for the player. Almqvist is permitted to leave Rostov on loan again after his recent stint with Lecce. This loan to Italy is just one of several temporary moves away from Rostov, with previous spells at Pogon Szczecin and FC Utrecht also on his record.

Fiorentina, Parma, and Roma are among the Italian clubs that have shown interest in Pontus Almqvist, but Brentford and Southampton are also “considering the Swede” as a potential addition this summer. Lecce has expressed a willingness to re-sign him, and Sevilla is also keeping an eye on the situation. Almqvist is currently evaluating his options before making a decision.

His availability for a loan move comes as a result of FIFA’s ruling allowing foreign players in Russia to seek temporary transfers, despite his contract expiring in a year. This opens up opportunities for Brentford and Southampton to pursue him, and both clubs have positioned themselves as contenders.
