Exclusive: Ready to approve a deal that should lead to a seven-figure sale, Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town are preparing to loan Welsh winger Sorba Thomas to Nantes, aiming to enhance his value for a potential future sale beyond the £1 million currently offered by the French club.

Thomas has attracted attention this summer following the Terriers’ relegation to the third tier. Although Championship side West Bromwich Albion initially showed interest, they were not willing to meet the asking price set by Huddersfield.

Nantes seemed poised to finalize a deal worth over £1 million for the 25-year-old. However, according to Alan Nixon, the terms of the deal are expected to change. The winger may now move to Nantes on loan, with the intention of increasing his market value for a higher sale price next summer.

This arrangement will allow Nantes to evaluate the player while providing Huddersfield the opportunity to enhance his value—something that would be challenging in League One next season.

Looking ahead, Huddersfield Town are working to restructure their team in preparation for what could be a crucial season in League One. Their recent relegation was anticipated, and significant changes in club culture will be necessary to turn things around.

Huddersfield Town have made some notable signings; Lasse Sorensen was widely regarded as one of the top performers in the division last season with Lincoln City and could have played at a higher level had the opportunity arisen. However, the club may feel frustrated for missing out on League One’s top scorer, Alfie May, despite having reached an agreement with promotion rivals Birmingham City.

All three teams that were relegated have made significant reinforcements, with Huddersfield arguably being the least active in the transfer market among them. With only two automatic promotion spots available and numerous League One clubs vying for at least a play-off position, achieving an immediate return to the Championship could be a challenging task for Huddersfield.
