A former Kentucky winger plays a fantastic comeback in the NBA Summer League.

Former Kentucky wing Justin Edwards, who went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft, has shown inconsistency in his Summer League performances. His debut with the Philadelphia 76ers was challenging, as he went scoreless in 18 minutes, shooting 0-of-2 from the field. Despite not scoring, he had a game-high +11 plus-minus during his time on the court.

On Tuesday, Justin Edwards rebounded impressively, scoring 14 points on efficient shooting with 5-of-7 from the field, including a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. He also contributed three rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in 25 minutes of play.

The 6-foot-8 wing had struggled with consistency and productivity during his time at Kentucky, which contributed to his exclusion from draft considerations over the past year. Despite starting strongly with double-digit scoring in seven of his first 11 games, his performance waned afterward, failing to reach 10 points in nine consecutive games and only achieving double figures twice in his next 14 games.

After Justin Edwards went undrafted, John Calipari expressed his disappointment on social media, emphasizing Edwards’ tremendous potential. Calipari wrote, “I was disappointed he wasn’t drafted because his upside is ridiculous. Philly is a great landing spot for him. Coach Nurse really likes him. Tyrese and I talked. He’s going to take him under his wing. Don’t be surprised as he busts through.”

With the Philadelphia 76ers continuing their journey in Summer League, there’s optimism that Edwards will build on his strong showing from Tuesday. Fans and supporters are hopeful that he can maintain and showcase more of the skills he displayed in his recent performance throughout the remainder of the summer league games.
