Huddersfield Town has confirmed the acquisition of midfielder Herbie Kane, who previously played for Barnsley before his contract expired. The 25-year-old has joined The Terriers on an initial three-year deal, marking their third signing of the summer transfer window.

Herbie Kane expressed his excitement about joining Huddersfield Town in a statement to the club’s media team:

“I couldn’t be happier to be joining Huddersfield Town at such an exciting time, and I’m really looking forward to the season ahead. Soon after learning of the interest and speaking to the Sporting Director and Head Coach, I knew this is where I wanted to be.

“Working with Michael Duff again is obviously a huge appeal, but having visited the training ground and stadium before signing and learned more about the ambition here, that has its own attraction and you get a good feeling about this being a Club to commit to.

“My job now is to work really hard alongside my new teammates in pre-season and do whatever I can once the season starts to ensure we get off to a great start and keep that momentum up across what is always a tough division.”

Herbie Kane is a product of the Liverpool academy, progressing through the ranks from U18 to U23 squads. He also made two appearances for Liverpool in the EFL Cup before joining Barnsley and now making the move to Huddersfield Town.

Huddersfield Town has made headlines with the signing of midfielder Herbie Kane from Barnsley, securing him on an initial three-year contract. Kane, aged 25, joins as the club’s third signing of the summer transfer window.

In a statement to the club’s media team, Kane expressed his enthusiasm about joining Huddersfield Town at a pivotal moment:

“I couldn’t be happier to be joining Huddersfield Town at such an exciting time, and I’m really looking forward to the season ahead. Soon after learning of the interest and speaking to the Sporting Director and Head Coach, I knew this is where I wanted to be.”

Kane highlighted the appeal of working with Head Coach Michael Duff again and praised the club’s ambition, which he experienced firsthand during visits to their training ground and stadium.

He emphasized his commitment to contributing positively to the team’s efforts during pre-season and beyond, aiming to ensure a strong start and sustained momentum in what promises to be a competitive division.

Herbie Kane’s career trajectory includes his development in Liverpool’s academy, followed by successful loan spells at Doncaster Rovers, Hull City, and Oxford United. He subsequently became a pivotal figure at Barnsley, making over 100 appearances and delivering standout performances, notably in the 22/23 season where he featured prominently under Michael Duff’s guidance.

Last season, Kane enjoyed his best campaign yet, showcasing his versatility and impact with nine goals and five assists in League One. His statistical performance placed him among the top percentile for chances created, successful passes, goals, expected goals (xG), penalty goals, shots, and shots on target among central midfielders in the league.

Considering Kane’s experience and skill set, his acquisition by Huddersfield Town appears to be a strategic move, bolstering their midfield options under the stewardship of Manager Michael Duff. With a blend of youth and experience at both League One and Championship levels, Kane is poised to contribute significantly to the club’s ambitions in the upcoming season.
