**Huddersfield Town Bracing for Key Player Exits Following Relegation**

Huddersfield Town is expected to lose some of their key players this summer after their relegation to League One in the 2023/24 season. The Terriers finished 23rd in the Championship with just 45 points, going through three different managers.

Andre Breitenreiter left the club by mutual consent on May 10 after less than three months in charge, and Michael Duff was appointed three days later, facing a challenging summer ahead.

Despite a disappointing season, Duff will likely receive second-tier offers for some of Huddersfield’s key players, including Jack Rudoni and Sorba Thomas, who are unlikely to want to play in League One.

Another potential departure is Poland international center-back Michal Helik, one of their standout performers since joining from Barnsley in 2022. Helik previously experienced relegation to League One with Barnsley, and it’s unlikely he would want to play in the third tier again.

Helik’s pedigree was evident at Barnsley, where he was instrumental in their 2020/21 play-off campaign and won their Player of the Year award. Despite Barnsley’s relegation, his strong performances convinced Huddersfield to sign him on a three-year deal, with an option for a further year.

Helik likely believes his talents are best suited for the second tier, and after his impressive displays during Huddersfield’s relegation campaign, he may seek a move. He has ambitions at the international level with Poland, and playing in League One could hinder his chances of returning to the national team.

Huddersfield will seek a sizable fee if Helik moves on, but with only one year left on his contract, they may struggle to command a high price.

Since joining Huddersfield on deadline day in 2022, Helik missed just four league games in his debut season, playing a key role in their survival under Neil Warnock. He won Player of the Year in his first season and arguably improved in 2023/24, despite the team’s relegation.

Helik was Huddersfield’s highest scorer in the Championship with nine goals in 41 games and consistently performed well, even captaining the team 13 times. He won another Player of the Year award in April, becoming only the fourth player in the club’s history to win back-to-back awards.

Given his importance to Huddersfield and his impressive statistics, it’s likely that second-tier offers will come in for Helik this summer. Based on his previous departure from Barnsley, he will likely welcome these offers.
