Wrexham, Huddersfield Town, Stockport County, and Blackpool are among the clubs showing interest in signing Sheffield Wednesday striker Bailey Cadamarteri on loan. According to The Star, Scottish Premiership teams Motherwell and Dundee United are also considering a move for Cadamarteri, who is likely to leave on loan to aid his development for the 2024-25 season.
Cadamarteri, who made his senior league debut last November, had a standout season at Hillsborough, playing a key role in Wednesday’s Championship survival under Danny Rohl.
In the previous season, Cadamarteri appeared in 25 matches for Sheffield Wednesday, starting 16 of them, scoring 5 goals and providing 1 assist.
His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the England under-19 squad in March, and he was previously linked with several Premier League clubs. Despite this, Sheffield Wednesday, who recently extended his contract, are reportedly leaning towards a loan move for the 19-year-old rather than a permanent transfer.
Cadamarteri’s next move could be to a League One team or a Scottish Premiership club. If he remains in England, he will face strong competition at the interested clubs. Wrexham, backed by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, already boasts several talented forwards such as Paul Mullin, Steven Fletcher, and Jack Marriott. Blackpool, having re-signed Jordan Rhodes, might offer Cadamarteri more playing time compared to their other options like Kyle Joseph and Jake Beesley.
Stockport County, newly promoted to League One, also have some promising but less experienced forwards, such as Isaac Oloafe and Burnley loanee Michael Mellon. Meanwhile, Huddersfield Town, also seeking new attacking options, have been linked to Joe Taylor and Dom Ballard but might consider Cadamarteri as a local alternative.
While Bailey Cadamarteri would be a valuable asset for Sheffield Wednesday this season, his likely status as a non-regular starter makes a loan move a more practical choice. Cadamarteri displayed significant potential last season after breaking into the first team, but his form dipped slightly in the latter part of the campaign. A loan spell could be very beneficial for his growth and development.
Wrexham, Huddersfield Town, and Blackpool are all expected to be strong contenders for promotion in League One, and Stockport County could also make a push for the play-offs.
