In the Hull City transfer race, Crystal Palace and Everton put pressure on Ipswich Town.

Everton and Crystal Palace are now competing to sign Jaden Philogene from Hull City this summer, putting pressure on previous frontrunners Ipswich Town. According to HITC, Hull City have accepted three offers for the winger, signaling a likely departure from the MKM Stadium. Philogene received considerable acclaim for his performances with the Championship side last season, having joined the club a year ago. He played a pivotal role under manager Liam Rosenior, contributing to their seventh-place finish in the league, narrowly missing out on playoff qualification. This setback has sparked speculation about his future, with Ipswich Town also expressing interest in securing his services.

Over the weekend, reports indicated that Ipswich Town had reached an agreement with Hull City for Jacob Greaves, but negotiations were ongoing regarding Jaden Philogene’s potential transfer. It is now understood that offers from Everton, Crystal Palace, and Ipswich Town have all been accepted by Hull. This development will be disappointing for new manager Tim Walter, who faces losing both Greaves and Philogene, key players in his squad. The 22-year-old winger now holds the decision-making power regarding his next career move, with a move to the Premier League appearing to be a likely option.

Barcelona had expressed interest in signing Jaden Philogene, but he has chosen to stay in England. The Spanish club reportedly offered a loan deal to Hull City with a €30 million (£25.3 million) option to buy, but this deal will not materialize.

Ipswich Town, newly promoted to the Premier League, are displaying significant ambition in the transfer market. Meanwhile, Everton has already secured Iliman Ndiaye this summer, while Crystal Palace seeks to fill the void left by Michael Olise’s departure to Bayern Munich.

Jaden Philogene’s stint at Hull has been notable since joining from Aston Villa last summer in a £5 million deal, following a loan spell at Cardiff City. He featured in 32 Championship matches for Hull, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot by three points (statistics from Fbref). Philogene made a substantial impact with 12 goals and six assists, establishing himself as a key player in the team.

His departure will undoubtedly be a setback for Hull City, and the next phase of his career remains to be decided.
