Josh Austerfield Transfers from Huddersfield Town to Salford City

Huddersfield Town’s midfielder, Josh Austerfield, has made a move to League Two club Salford City. The 22-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Ammies, marking the end of his 14-year journey with Huddersfield Town. Austerfield progressed through the club’s academy and made six senior appearances for the Terriers, including three in the Championship during the last season.

During his time at Huddersfield, Austerfield was loaned out six times, gaining experience with clubs such as Brighouse Town, Hyde United, Morecambe, Crewe Alexandra, and Harrogate Town. His most recent loan stint was with Crewe Alexandra, where he played 21 matches, including the play-off final at Wembley, although the team faced a 2-0 defeat against Crawley Town.

Now, Austerfield returns to League Two with Salford City, who have had a mixed start to their season with a draw and a defeat in their opening games. Huddersfield Town’s sporting director, Mark Cartwright, acknowledged the difficulty of securing a consistent place for Austerfield in the first team and emphasized that the move to Salford provides a valuable opportunity for the young midfielder to further his career.

Cartwright expressed his gratitude for Austerfield’s long-term commitment to Huddersfield and wished him success in his future endeavors.
