After meeting with multiple teams, Fiske was taken aback when the Rams traded up to select him in the NFL Draft.
Former Florida State standout defensive tackle Braden Fiske had a remarkable journey to the NFL. Originally from Western Michigan, Fiske emerged as the No. 2 transfer prospect in 2022 and gained national attention during his time with the Seminoles, tallying 43 tackles, six sacks, and nine tackles for loss. His impressive performance at the NFL Combine, where he ranked third among all defensive tackles, solidified his draft stock. Eventually, Fiske was selected No. 39 overall by the LA Rams in the 2024 NFL Draft, alongside his teammate Jared Verse, who was picked at No. 19.
Reflecting on his draft experience, Fiske admitted he was taken aback when the Rams traded up to select him in the second round, considering he hadn’t interacted much with them during the pre-draft process. His outstanding combine results, where he led in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, broad jump, and 20-yard shuttle, clearly caught their attention.
Fiske signed a lucrative contract with the Rams, featuring $7.6 million fully guaranteed, including a $3.7 million signing bonus, over four years totaling $9.4 million. This marked a significant leap from his earnings through Name Image and Likeness (NIL) deals. Despite the surprise, Fiske expressed excitement about joining the Rams and praised the coaching staff, believing it’s the ideal situation for him to thrive.
Looking ahead, Fiske and Verse are set to make an impact in the NFC West, starting with their preseason debut against the Dallas Cowboys on August 11.
