Lazio discusses Alcaraz and Mandas with Southampton

Lazio is reportedly in discussions with Southampton about acquiring former Juventus midfielder Carlos Alcaraz and goalkeeper Christos Mandas, who is also on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ radar.

The Biancocelesti are aiming to overhaul their midfield this summer to align with the tactics of their new coach, Marco Baroni. According to Tuttomercatoweb and Corriere dello Sport, Lazio is negotiating with Southampton for a potential player exchange.

Alcaraz, who recently completed a six-month loan at Juventus, is eager to make another attempt in Serie A. Despite the loan costing €3.9 million, he struggled at Juventus, making only 12 appearances and contributing one assist in 379 minutes of play. Juventus decided not to exercise their option to buy him, and now Lazio hopes to give the Argentine another chance to succeed in Italian football. The deal could be structured as another loan with an option to buy or involve a swap deal with Mandas.

Mandas, a Greece international currently serving as a backup to Ivan Provedel, has drawn interest from Manchester City, and Wolves are now also monitoring his situation.
