Marseille has successfully secured the transfer of Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe in a deal that could rise to £17 million. The French club outpaced Leeds United and Rennes to land the highly sought-after 21-year-old talent.
As reported by John Percy, the agreement starts with an initial payment of £14 million, with the potential for add-ons pushing the total to £17 million. Rowe, a standout performer in the Championship last season, had been on the radar of several clubs, with Leeds showing particular interest following the departure of Crysencio Summerville. Stade Rennais also pursued the young Englishman after bolstering their squad with Glen Kamara and Jordan James earlier in the transfer window. Despite their efforts, they were unable to secure Rowe’s signature.
This transfer comes as a significant blow to Norwich City, who have yet to feature Rowe this season due to the swirling transfer rumors. Last season, Rowe was a key figure for the Canaries, delivering 13 goals and four assists across 38 appearances. His departure adds to a growing list of players leaving Carrow Road, with Gabriel Sara and Adam Idah having already moved to Galatasaray and Celtic, respectively.

Norwich could face further challenges in retaining their squad as the summer window progresses. Abu Kamara has submitted a transfer request, and interest in Josh Sargent is reportedly on the rise. While Norwich has benefited from substantial player sales recently, including the Rowe deal, the club remains vulnerable to further departures as they try to keep hold of their remaining key assets.
