“Miles Apart”: West Ham Fights To Reach A Saints Agreement

The popular West Ham social media account, West Ham Central, has indicated that negotiations for Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters are ongoing, suggesting that a deal has not yet been finalized between the clubs.

According to Sky Sports News transfer correspondent Darmesh Sheth, who provided the information in his daily update, West Ham have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Kyle Walker-Peters. However, Southampton is reportedly dissatisfied with the transfer offer made by the Hammers.

It’s uncertain whether Southampton have been presented with the option of receiving West Ham midfielder Flynn Downes as part of a potential exchange deal. Downes, who is from Essex and a supporter of the Hammers, has returned to pre-season training this week and is set to join the team in Austria as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League season. He has expressed a willingness to stay at West Ham and compete for a place in the starting lineup under new coach Julen Lopetegui.

West Ham are actively seeking to transfer former Southampton striker Danny Ings during this window, having made him available to Southampton.

Kyle Walker-Peters is one of a few options being considered to fill the vacancy left by Ben Johnson as West Ham’s right-back. With Vladimir Coufal nearing the end of his career and in the final year of his contract with West Ham, manager Tim Steidten is prioritizing a regular starter rather than a backup option.
