Premier Sports Cup: Aberdeen triumphs

Aberdeen clinched a comfortable victory at Pittodrie this afternoon, scoring six goals in the second half.

In a relatively even first half, scoring opportunities were scarce for both teams. Dumbarton managed to stay level due to a couple of crucial goal-line clearances, while Carlo Pignatiello’s effort was ruled out for offside.

The second half began with a quick burst from Jack MacKenzie, who scored with a shot into the far corner shortly after the restart. Ester Sokler then added a second goal just minutes later. Dumbarton struggled to find their rhythm as they attempted to get back into the game. Sokler scored again to seal the victory, followed by Peter Ambrose’s goal in the 85th minute. James McGarry added the fifth, and Slobodan Rubežić completed the scoring with a header for the sixth.

Dumbarton will begin their league season next weekend, traveling north to face Inverness.
