The prospective £30 million Crystal Palace move, who might be a fantastic summer addition

Crystal Palace are reportedly pursuing a prominent Premier League star. The club’s trajectory this summer evokes imagery of a space shuttle descending through Earth’s atmosphere: once soaring among the stars, they now face challenges as the new Premier League season approaches, risking the loss of key components along the way.

Michael Olise was the first to depart, moving to Bayern Munich in a deal worth approximately £50.8 million, but he likely won’t be the only Crystal Palace player drawing significant interest in the coming weeks. English talents Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi are highly coveted by several top Premier League clubs, while several other teammates from Selhurst Park have also caught the eye with strong performances towards the end of last season.

Arguably, the departure of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze would be particularly impactful, as they collectively contributed 21 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League last season, accounting for 54.4% of Crystal Palace’s total goals scored. Finding suitable replacements for such influential players will undoubtedly be a challenging task.

Palace are determined to make a strong effort, and according to reports from various sources, they have already seen a bid rejected for Emile Smith Rowe, the Arsenal player who has struggled with injuries recently and subsequently fallen in the squad hierarchy. Last season, he started only two Premier League matches, leading to widespread agreement that a move away from his childhood club is necessary to revive his career.

In addition to Palace, Fulham is also interested, with ongoing discussions reportedly taking place behind the scenes at both clubs regarding whether to make an improved offer to Arsenal in the near future. It’s suggested that Palace should strongly consider doing so.

Smith Rowe is a talented player who has faced setbacks largely due to circumstances beyond his control. Before his unfortunate series of fitness issues, the versatile attacker had earned a call-up to the senior England squad. There’s optimism that with a consistent run of playing time at the highest level, he could rediscover the form that propelled him into national recognition. Capable of operating centrally or on the left flank, Smith Rowe could serve as a suitable replacement for either Olise or Eze. With 80 Premier League appearances under his belt already, he possesses valuable experience in the top flight.

It’s understood that Arsenal are seeking around £30 million for Smith Rowe, a significant sum but one that could be justified by his potential and talent. Sometimes, investing in such players is necessary to reap future rewards.

If Palace are to cope with the potential loss of key players this summer, they must find smart and effective ways to smoothly transition under Oliver Glasner’s leadership. Recruiting players like Smith Rowe would be crucial in facilitating this transition and maintaining competitiveness in the Premier League.
