Backup Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning recently featured in a commercial for the upcoming College Football 25 video game. This is notable because Manning had been among the few prominent players who opted out of appearing in the game, which was offered alongside a $600 payment and a copy of the game to other college football players.
Manning referred to the game as a “distraction,” explaining his decision not to participate.
Arch Manning chose not to participate in College Football 25, citing his commitment to staying focused on his on-field performance as the primary reason. An article by Anwar Richardson on OrangeBloods, as reported by Awful Announcing, underscored Manning’s view that the game could divert his attention. This decision gained significance when it was announced that Quinn Ewers, another Texas quarterback, would appear on the game’s cover.
“In his post, Richardson stated that multiple sources have confirmed Texas redshirt quarterback Arch Manning’s decision not to opt into EA Sports College Football 25. According to Richardson, Manning’s focus is on playing football on the field.”
“Many criticized Manning at the time for opting out, arguing that his decision created more distraction compared to simply opting in, as the majority of other college football players did.”
Despite initially considering College Football 25 a distraction and opting out, Arch Manning has now chosen to participate in promoting the game, even though fellow Longhorn QB Quinn Ewers was announced as the cover athlete.
Manning’s involvement now goes beyond what would have been necessary had he originally opted in. Reports indicate Manning will earn between $50,000 to $60,000 for his role in the game’s last-minute marketing campaign.
Manning appears in the commercial alongside his famous family member, Eli Manning, a two-time Super Bowl champion and former quarterback for the New York Giants.
Despite Ewers being prominently featured, it’s uncertain how much he earned from the game, or if his earnings exceeded the basic $600 and a game copy. Should he have earned less than Manning for his participation, it would coincide with the two quarterbacks’ NIL valuations.
According to On3, Ewers is valued at $1.9 million in NIL, whereas Manning’s valuation is $2.8 million. Ewers led the Longhorns to a College Football Playoff spot in 2023, whereas Manning has not yet had significant playing time at Texas.
