Before the Rams moved, Manchester United was interested in Derby County’s youngster.

A recent addition to Derby County, known for his goal-scoring ability, had drawn interest from Manchester United before joining the club.

Despite the summer transfer window being open for less than a month, Derby County has already bolstered their squad with three new signings.

After securing a second-place finish in League One, Paul Warne has moved swiftly to bolster his squad at Derby County, aiming to enhance their chances of avoiding relegation from the Championship in the upcoming 2024/25 season.

The first recruit at Pride Park was Ben Osborn, who joined from Sheffield United on a free transfer. Following Osborn’s arrival, Derby quickly added Kayden Jackson and Jerry Yates to their roster.

However, the club’s transfer activities are not expected to conclude there. There’s interest in bringing in former Premier League goalkeeper Matt Ryan to strengthen the squad further. Additionally, Derby is eyeing Hull City winger Ryan Longman as a potential addition to their team ahead of the new season.

Manchester United had shown interest in Sean Corry. This summer, Derby County isn’t just focusing on strengthening their first-team; they’ve also bolstered their youth ranks by signing young talent.

Attacker Sean Corry recently secured a two-year scholarship with Derby after catching the club’s attention while playing for Northern Ireland under-15s against England. Mark Emerson, a former coach of Corry, praised the striker, stating, “As a four-year-old at our Mini Soccer Centre, you could clearly see he had talent and a knack for scoring goals.”

“Sean was always a natural goal scorer, and that ability remained with him even as he played in different positions across midfield and the forward line, which has contributed significantly to his overall growth.”

Before joining Derby, however, the 16-year-old had drawn interest from a prominent Premier League club.

According to Belfast Live, Corry had impressed Manchester United before making the move to Pride Park.

Derby County’s acquisition of Sean Corry represents a savvy move for the future, yet the club must now turn their attention to planning for long-term success, particularly in terms of their first-team transfer strategy.

The squad at Derbyshire is notably aging, with several key players now in their 30s. James Collins, their top scorer from last season, is 33 years old, and several key defenders are also nearing the end of their careers. Despite these concerns, Derby has yet to effectively address the issue of their aging squad in the current transfer window.

While signings like Kayden Jackson (30 years old) and Ben Osborn (29 years old) still offer quality years ahead, it underscores the absence of a clear long-term transfer plan at Derby County.
