Remembering Brenda Jackson, Beloved Mother of Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Brenda Jackson, the mother of NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and a dedicated member of JR Motorsports, has passed away at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her family confirmed her death, marking a profound loss for both her loved ones and the racing community.

Born to NASCAR fabricator Robert Gee, Brenda’s roots in the racing world run deep. She married Dale Earnhardt in 1972 and became a pivotal figure in the lives of their two children, Dale Jr. and Kelley Earnhardt Miller. Following the couple’s separation, Brenda ensured that her children remained close to her while Dale Earnhardt pursued his racing career.

After experiencing hardships, including a devastating fire that left them homeless, Brenda relocated to Virginia, allowing her children to live with their father. In 1985, she married firefighter Willie Jackson and returned to North Carolina, where she would eventually join the family racing business. In 2004, she became an accounting specialist for JR Motorsports, further solidifying her role in the family legacy.

Brenda was a steadfast supporter of her son’s decision to step back from full-time racing due to health concerns related to concussions. Her unwavering commitment extended to charitable initiatives, particularly through The Dale Jr. Foundation, showcasing her dedication to making a positive impact in the community.

She leaves behind her husband, two children, a stepdaughter, six grandchildren, and two brothers, all of whom will cherish her memory and the love she shared throughout her life.
