Alex Ballentine from Bleacher Report has made a bold prediction about the future of Brandon Aiyuk with the 49ers, suggesting that the star wide receiver will sign a significant extension to stay in San Francisco.
He noted that signing Aiyuk to a long-term deal could lower his cap hit for 2024, while also allowing the 49ers the flexibility to address Deebo Samuel’s contract next offseason. Releasing or trading Samuel in 2025 could save them $9 million against the cap, enabling the 49ers to maintain their receiver duo for another season as they aim for a Super Bowl title and giving them room to pay Aiyuk in the coming years. This approach would help eliminate distractions before the season begins.
Aiyuk has become a crucial part of the 49ers’ offense, recording 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns in the 2023 season. His strong chemistry with Brock Purdy makes losing him a significant concern.
At just 26, Aiyuk is entering his prime and has shown remarkable growth in his game over the past few years.
