Texans Seek Fourth Straight Win Against Struggling Titans

The Houston Texans are poised to extend their winning streak as they prepare to host the Tennessee Titans this Sunday in a crucial AFC South clash. With a 7-4 record, the Texans lead their division by two games, despite a challenging stretch that saw them lose three of their last four games. A commanding 34-10 victory against the Dallas Cowboys earlier this week has given Houston renewed momentum, signaling they might be back on track.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud has been a steady force for the Texans, throwing for 257 yards against Dallas despite an interception. Wide receiver Nico Collins made a strong return after missing five games due to a hamstring injury, contributing four catches for 54 yards. However, it was running back Joe Mixon who stole the show, tallying 153 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns, marking his fifth 100-yard rushing game in six contests. Head coach DeMeco Ryans emphasized the importance of staying focused and consistent, stating, “If we remain locked in, we can compete with anyone.”

Defensively, the Texans are hopeful for the return of standout Will Anderson Jr., who has been sidelined with an ankle injury. Anderson, tied for the team lead with 7.5 sacks, is expected to play after limited participation in practice. Houston’s defense will be key as they face a Titans squad struggling to find their identity after a turbulent season.

The Titans, sitting at 2-8, are enduring a rebuilding year after losing star running back Derrick Henry in the offseason. Despite six double-digit losses, quarterback Will Levis has shown flashes of promise. In last week’s 23-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Levis threw for a season-high 295 yards, including a stunning 98-yard touchdown pass to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. Levis remains optimistic, saying, “How you approach your job daily is what creates winning habits. We just have to trust the process.”

Injuries have plagued the Titans, with key players like cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, receiver Calvin Ridley, and linebacker Jack Gibbens sidelined. Meanwhile, the Texans are dealing with injuries to Denico Autry and others but remain confident as they hold a three-game winning streak against the Titans. This matchup not only offers the Texans a chance to solidify their division lead but also provides an opportunity for the Titans to regroup and fight for pride.

The two teams will meet again in the final week of the season, but for now, all eyes are on Sunday’s game, as Houston aims to prove they are serious playoff contenders.
