The Wolves Foundation is stepping up to assist expecting parents in Wolverhampton by organizing a “Healthy Pregnancy Evening” at Molineux Stadium. This event is designed to offer practical support and advice to those who are pregnant or planning to start a family. Building on the success of their weekly sessions, the event is set to take place on Thursday, September 12, at the North Bank Bar from 6 PM to 8 PM.
The weekly sessions, run in collaboration with the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, focus on key areas like feeding, safe sleeping, and other practical aspects of parenting. These gatherings also serve as a community for parents-to-be, offering them a space to connect, share experiences, and support one another through their pregnancy journeys.
Jade Sutton, Senior Health Officer at the Wolves Foundation, emphasized the importance of a healthy pregnancy as a foundational step in a child’s development. She mentioned that the sessions not only provide essential information but also foster friendships among parents whose babies are due around the same time, helping them feel more prepared for the significant life change ahead.
Emily Lear, a Healthy Pregnancy Advisor from Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital, also highlighted the value of these sessions. “We offer guidance on everything from preparing for labor to feeding and self-care. Our aim is to provide the information and support that expecting parents need during this critical time,” she said.
One couple, Alexis and Dan, who now attend the Foundation’s Healthy Goals Stay & Play sessions with their six-month-old daughter Meredith, praised the program for helping them feel more confident as new parents. “It’s great to have a place to turn to when you’re looking for advice, especially since there’s no manual for first-time parents,” Dan added.
The upcoming event promises a wealth of valuable information, covering topics such as antenatal classes, hypnobirthing, nutrition, exercise, and even baby and child first aid. With healthcare professionals on hand, it’s a fantastic opportunity for expecting parents to get the guidance they need as they prepare for the arrival of their little ones.
